Budget-Friendly Home Exchange in Poland

Skip hotels entirely and travel for the cost of credits.

Poland delivers extraordinary value without sacrificing experience. Your złoty stretches beautifully here—think hearty pierogi meals for a few euros, historic city centres you can explore on foot, and milk bars serving authentic Polish comfort food at prices that feel like time travel. Beyond Warsaw and Kraków's obvious charms, smaller cities like Wrocław and Gdańsk offer the same architectural drama and cultural depth with even gentler price tags. Public transport connects everything efficiently, and staying in residential neighbourhoods means access to local markets where fresh bread, seasonal produce, and artisan cheeses cost a fraction of tourist-district prices.

Why Poland works for budget-friendly

Homes, not hotel rooms

Live in a real Poland home — kitchen, balcony, neighbourhood rhythm — instead of a generic hotel room.

Fair by design

1 credit = 1 night. Every home is worth the same. No bidding, no haggling, no price surges.

Curated for budget-friendly

We prioritise kitchen · apartment, cottage, cabins — the kind of homes that actually fit the travel style.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

What are the best money-saving tips for eating and getting around Poland?

Embrace bar mleczny (milk bars)—these cafeteria-style spots serve traditional Polish dishes like bigos and naleśniki for just a few złoty. Shop at local markets rather than supermarkets for produce and cheese. For transport, buy multi-day public transit passes in cities, and use PKP intercity trains between regions—book ahead online for the cheapest fares. Many museums offer free entry one day per week, and Poland's stunning old towns, riverside paths, and parks cost nothing to wander.
