Reliable fibre internet meets medieval charm in a country where your monthly burn rate drops by half the moment you cross the border. Czech Republic's combination of rock-solid infrastructure, central European timezone, and café culture that predates coworking by centuries makes it a magnet for remote workers who refuse to compromise on either connectivity or character. Prague's Karlín and Vinohrady districts hum with laptop-wielding regulars, while smaller cities like Brno and Olomouc offer the same gigabit speeds with none of the tourist crowds. The homes below put you in neighbourhoods where locals actually live—places with corner bakeries, proper desks, and the kind of afternoon light that makes 4pm calls almost pleasant.

Why Czech Republic works for for digital nomads

Homes, not hotel rooms

Live in a real Czech Republic home — kitchen, balcony, neighbourhood rhythm — instead of a generic hotel room.

Fair by design

1 credit = 1 night. Every home is worth the same. No bidding, no haggling, no price surges.

Curated for for digital nomads

We prioritise wifi, workspace · apartment, houses — the kind of homes that actually fit the travel style.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

What's the digital nomad infrastructure like outside Prague?

Brno rivals the capital for coworking spaces and has become a tech hub with a university town vibe—think reliable 300+ Mbps home connections, late-opening cafés with power outlets, and a fraction of Prague's cost. Olomouc and Plzeň offer similar connectivity with even lower living costs. The entire country benefits from dense fibre rollout, so even small towns deliver speeds that shame many Western European capitals. Czech SIM cards are cheap and LTE coverage blankets the country, making tethering a genuine backup option.
