Turkey's digital nomad infrastructure has matured rapidly, with Istanbul's Kadıköy and Beşiktaş districts now hosting dozens of coworking spaces with fiber internet, while coastal cities like Antalya and Bodrum offer beachside cafes where you can work to the sound of waves. The cost of living remains remarkably low—fresh produce markets, affordable SIM cards with generous data, and excellent public transport mean your runway stretches further here. Time zones split the difference between European and Asian clients, visa policies have grown friendlier for remote workers, and the food alone justifies the plane ticket. Homes across Turkey's creative neighborhoods and quieter coastal towns offer the desks, WiFi, and local rhythms that turn a month abroad into genuinely productive time.

Why Turkey works for for digital nomads

Homes, not hotel rooms

Live in a real Turkey home — kitchen, balcony, neighbourhood rhythm — instead of a generic hotel room.

Fair by design

1 credit = 1 night. Every home is worth the same. No bidding, no haggling, no price surges.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

What's the internet reliability like for remote work in Turkey?

Major cities offer fiber connections up to 100 Mbps in most residential areas, and Turkey's mobile networks are surprisingly robust—4.5G coverage blankets even smaller coastal towns. Coworking spaces in Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir maintain backup generators and redundant lines. The infrastructure dips in rural Cappadocia or mountain villages, so if you're working synchronously with teams abroad, stick to urban centers or confirm connectivity with your host beforehand. Most digital nomads report fewer dropouts than they experienced in Southern Europe.
