For Families Home Exchange in Slovenia

Spacious homes, full kitchens, and kid-friendly neighbourhoods.

No listings matched yet in Slovenia be the first host

Families chasing a slower pace without sacrificing adventure find Slovenia unusually rewarding. The capital moves at stroller-friendly speed, medieval castles dot hillsides reachable by short drives, and Lake Bled's shoreline paths welcome wobbly cyclists and confident walkers alike. Playgrounds appear in unexpected village squares, bakeries sell warm potica by mid-morning, and the Postojna Cave system turns rainy afternoons into subterranean theatre. Homes here often come with gardens backing onto forest trails or balconies overlooking Alpine foothills—the kind of setup where breakfast stretches into impromptu nature lessons and bedtime stories write themselves.

Why Slovenia works for for families

Homes, not hotel rooms

Live in a real Slovenia home — kitchen, balcony, neighbourhood rhythm — instead of a generic hotel room.

Fair by design

1 credit = 1 night. Every home is worth the same. No bidding, no haggling, no price surges.

Curated for for families

We prioritise homes sleeping 4+ people · wifi, kitchen, washer · house, villa, apartments — the kind of homes that actually fit the travel style.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

What makes Slovenia manageable for families travelling with young children?

Slovenia's compact geography means major sights sit within an hour of each other, so you avoid marathon car journeys. Towns like Ljubljana ban cars from their centres, creating safe zones for toddlers to roam. Public parks feature well-maintained playgrounds, and restaurants expect children—high chairs appear without asking, and kremšnita cream cake doubles as a universal peace offering. The Adriatic coast at Piran offers calm beaches, while inland rivers like the Soča stay shallow enough for paddling. English is widely spoken, and pharmacies stock familiar brands if you forget essentials.
