Travelling with kids in Turkey means navigating a culture that genuinely adores children — from restaurant owners who bring colouring books unbidden to grandmothers who stop to admire toddlers in the street. The country offers a rare mix of beach towns with shallow Mediterranean coves, ancient ruins that feel like open-air playgrounds, and cities where parks are plentiful and evening promenades are a social ritual. Neighbourhoods often centre around bakeries, corner shops, and small playgrounds, making daily routines surprisingly easy. Whether you're drawn to coastal calm or the energy of historic districts, the homes below put you inside communities where family life unfolds at a gentle, welcoming pace.

Why Turkey works for for families

Homes, not hotel rooms

Live in a real Turkey home — kitchen, balcony, neighbourhood rhythm — instead of a generic hotel room.

Fair by design

1 credit = 1 night. Every home is worth the same. No bidding, no haggling, no price surges.

Curated for for families

We prioritise homes sleeping 4+ people · wifi, kitchen, washer · house, villa, apartments — the kind of homes that actually fit the travel style.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

What makes Turkey particularly manageable for families with young children?

Turkish culture is exceptionally child-friendly — restaurants expect kids, public spaces accommodate strollers, and locals are patient with noise and mess. Coastal areas offer calm, shallow waters ideal for toddlers, while cities have plenty of parks and pedestrian streets. Fresh bread, simple grilled meats, and familiar vegetables make feeding picky eaters easier than in many destinations. Pharmacies are everywhere, and many staff speak some English. The rhythm of life — late dinners, long afternoon breaks — actually suits families who need flexibility more than rigid schedules.
