Home Exchange in Puerto Iguazú

No verified homes listed in Puerto Iguazú yet — the first hosts get priority placement.

Puerto Iguazú hums with the low roar of falling water long before you reach the falls themselves. This small border town, wedged between Brazil and Paraguay, feels like a staging ground for something immense — which it is. Beyond the mist and the toucans, there's a rhythm here shaped by the jungle: early mornings are cool and loud with birds, afternoons heavy with humidity, evenings alive with the chatter of parrilladas and the glow of string lights. The town itself is modest, a mix of backpacker hostels, family-run restaurants serving surubí and chipá, and quiet residential streets shaded by ceibo trees. It's a place that exists because of the Iguazú River, and everything here bends toward it.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

What's the best time to visit Puerto Iguazú?

March through May and September through November offer the best balance — the falls run full but not torrentially, temperatures hover in the mid-twenties, and the jungle trails are less crowded. Summer (December to February) brings intense heat and humidity, though the falls are at their most dramatic. Winter is mild and dry, but water levels can drop. Whenever you come, expect rain: the rainforest doesn't take days off, and afternoon storms roll in fast, drenching everything before disappearing just as quickly.
