Home Exchange in Ushuaia

No verified homes listed in Ushuaia yet — the first hosts get priority placement.

Perched at the ragged edge of the world, Ushuaia clings to the Beagle Channel where the Andes tumble into the sea. This is Patagonia at its most dramatic: glaciers carving through mountain passes, forests of lenga and ñire turning copper in autumn, and a light that shifts from pewter to gold in minutes. The town itself feels like a frontier outpost—corrugated-iron roofs, king crab pulled fresh from icy waters, and a port where Antarctic-bound ships take on fuel. Winters bring powdery snow to Cerro Castor; summers stretch the daylight until nearly midnight. It's the kind of place where you taste the wind.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

When's the best time to visit Ushuaia?

Summer (December through February) offers near-endless daylight, wildflowers in Tierra del Fuego National Park, and calm seas for Beagle Channel cruises. Autumn (March to April) paints the forests in rust and amber—stunning for hiking, though weather turns unpredictable. Winter (June to August) transforms Ushuaia into a snowy base for skiing at Cerro Castor and husky sledding, but expect short days and biting cold. Spring is wild and windswept. Most travellers choose summer for its accessibility and light, but each season reveals a different face of the end of the world.
