Home Exchange in Salta
No verified homes listed in Salta yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
Salta sits high in Argentina's northwest, where colonial churches cast long shadows over cobbled plazas and the scent of empanadas drifts from corner bakeries. The city spills into valleys framed by rust-coloured peaks, and weekends bring the hum of peñas—folk music halls where guitars and bombo drums carry stories from the Andes. Beyond the centre, vineyards climb impossible slopes in Cafayate, and the Tren a las Nubes winds through cloud-piercing gorges. Mornings start with strong coffee and tamales; evenings linger over locro and Torrontés wine.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
When's the best time to visit Salta?
April through October brings clear skies and mild days—ideal for exploring the quebradas and high-altitude valleys without the summer rains. Winter nights turn cold, but the dry air makes for brilliant stargazing in the surrounding hills. Spring (September to November) paints the valleys green and fills markets with fresh produce. If you're chasing Carnival, February explodes with colour, though afternoon thunderstorms are common. Most locals say autumn offers the sweetest balance: warm sun, harvest season in the wine valleys, and the landscape glowing amber and gold.
