Home Exchange in Lombok
No verified homes listed in Lombok yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
Lombok unfolds quieter than its famous neighbour, a volcanic island where rice terraces cascade down hillsides and fishing villages still set their rhythms by tide and season. The air smells of clove and salt. Mornings begin with waves rolling onto white-sand crescents in the south, while inland, Sasak weavers work their looms in the shadow of Mount Rinjani. The north coast hides turquoise coves accessible only by boat, and warungs serve ikan bakar with sambal that makes your eyes water. This is Indonesia at a slower pace, where you trade crowds for empty beaches and temple ceremonies that feel like they belong to the island alone.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
What's the best way to experience Lombok beyond the beaches?
Head inland to the Sasak villages around Sade and Rambitan, where traditional thatched homes and weaving traditions remain vivid. The foothills of Mount Rinjani offer cooler air, waterfalls like Tiu Kelep, and trails through tobacco and coffee plantations. Visit a local market in Mataram or Praya for morning energy — jackfruit, tamarind, and chilli pastes piled high. The east coast around Ekas and Gerupuk feels wilder, with mangroves and surf breaks that see a fraction of the traffic. Dry season from May to September brings the clearest skies for trekking and island-hopping.
