Home Exchange in Tangier

No verified homes listed in Tangier yet — the first hosts get priority placement.

Tangier clings to the edge of two continents, where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic and Europe feels close enough to touch. The medina's blue-and-white alleys spill down toward the port, while the Kasbah watches over terraces where mint tea arrives on silver trays. Mornings smell of msemen frying in olive oil, and by afternoon the Grand Socco hums with fruit vendors and storytellers. The city has always belonged to artists and wanderers—drawn by the light, the crossing winds, and the sense that anything might happen after dark.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

What's the rhythm of life like in Tangier?

Tangier moves between worlds. The medina wakes early with the call to prayer and the clatter of handcarts, while the Ville Nouvelle keeps European café hours—late breakfasts, long lunches. Spring and autumn bring the gentlest weather, though summer draws beachgoers to the corniche. The city's mixed heritage means you'll hear Darija, French, Spanish, and Berber in a single afternoon. Evenings belong to the seafront promenade, where locals stroll as the sun sinks behind the Strait of Gibraltar.
