Home Exchange in Paracas
No verified homes listed in Paracas yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
Paracas feels like Peru's quieter answer to the coast — a place where the desert meets the Pacific in wind-carved cliffs and turquoise bays. Mornings here smell of salt and guano, and the light has that crystalline quality you only get when there's nothing between you and the horizon. The town itself is small and sun-bleached, built around the marina and a handful of seafood restaurants where ceviche comes piled with sweet potato and cancha. Most people use it as a jumping-off point for the Ballestas Islands or the red sands of the national reserve, but there's something to be said for staying put — watching the pelicans dive at sunset, feeling the paracas wind that gave the place its name.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
When's the best time to visit Paracas?
Year-round works — Paracas sits in one of Peru's driest microclimates, so rain is rare. Winter (June to September) brings cooler temperatures and the famous paracas winds, which can gust hard in the afternoons but make for dramatic coastal walks. Summer (December to March) is warmer and calmer, ideal for boat trips to the islands or lazy days on El Chaco beach. Mornings are nearly always clear, so plan wildlife outings early. The shoulder seasons offer the best balance of mild weather and fewer crowds.
