Home Exchange in Trujillo

No verified homes listed in Trujillo yet — the first hosts get priority placement.

Trujillo sprawls along Peru's northern coast, where colonial balconies lean over streets thick with the scent of ceviche and sugar cane. The city breathes archaeology—Chan Chan's adobe walls rise from the desert just beyond the edge of town, and Huacas del Sol y de la Luna glow rust-red at sunset. Mornings start with chicha de jora in the markets, afternoons slow down in the shade of pastel mansions around Plaza de Armas, and evenings hum with marinera dancers practicing their footwork. Spring here means eternal summer: warm, dry, reliably golden.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

What's the rhythm of life like in Trujillo?

Trujillo moves at a coastal-desert pace—warm year-round, unhurried but never sleepy. The historic centre feels genteel and walkable, full of Republican-era mansions and shaded plazas. Head toward Buenos Aires or La Esperanza for a grittier, more working-class vibe, or out to Huanchaco beach for surf breaks and reed boats. Locals eat late, linger over ceviche at lunch, and the city's pride in its marinera dance tradition runs deep. It's a place that rewards slow exploration, not quick hits.
