Home Exchange in Koh Tao
No verified homes listed in Koh Tao yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
Koh Tao rises from the Gulf of Thailand like a granite turtle, its jungle-covered spine dropping into gin-clear water where whale sharks drift past coral gardens. Mornings smell of sweet Thai coffee and grilled pork skewers from the village, afternoons hum with longtail boats puttering between hidden coves. The island moves to a slower clock—dive instructors swap shifts at sunset, yoga studios open to the breeze, and the best papaya salad comes from a cart with no name. It's small enough to cross on a scooter in twenty minutes, wild enough that monitor lizards still own the trails after dark.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
What's the best time to visit Koh Tao?
February through September brings calm seas and crystalline visibility—ideal for diving and snorkelling. The southwest monsoon arrives around October, stirring up waves on the west coast while the east stays relatively sheltered. December and January see crowds thin after the holiday rush, though occasional swells can limit boat access. Locals say March and April offer the sweetest balance: warm water, fewer visitors, and that golden late-dry-season light that makes every beach look like a postcard.
