Home Exchange in Ha Long Bay
No verified homes listed in Ha Long Bay yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
Ha Long Bay unfolds in shades of jade and limestone, where thousands of karst islands rise from the Gulf of Tonkin like ancient sentinels. Floating villages drift between the pillars, and the scent of grilled squid drifts from wooden boats at dawn. Beyond the bay itself, the gateway towns hum with night markets and bánh đa cua stands, while Cat Ba Island offers jungle trails and quiet coves. Mist clings to the peaks most mornings, turning the seascape into something between geography and dream.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
When's the best time to visit Ha Long Bay?
October through April brings dry skies and cooler temperatures, ideal for cruising between the karsts without the summer humidity. March and April see the bay at its clearest, though November's soft light is beloved by photographers. The summer months turn hot and stormy, with occasional typhoons from July to September. Winter can be misty and grey, which lends the landscape an ethereal quality but may limit visibility. Most travellers favour the shoulder seasons when the weather is mild and the water calm.
