Home Exchange in El Nido

No verified homes listed in El Nido yet — the first hosts get priority placement.

The sound that wakes you in El Nido isn't an alarm — it's the slap of outrigger hulls against turquoise water and the calls of boatmen hauling in the morning's catch. This scattered constellation of limestone karsts and lagoons on Palawan's northern tip rewards slow mornings: coffee brewed in a sarong-clad kitchen, then a walk to the port where bancas idle beside stalls selling mangoes and grilled squid. Hotels here cluster along the beachfront strip, but the rhythm of the place — the way neighbours share ukoy fritters at sunset, the backdoor routes to hidden coves — belongs to the barangays that thread inland. The homes below open the door to that rhythm.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

When's the best time to visit El Nido?

The dry season from November through May brings calm seas and reliable sunshine — ideal for island-hopping the Bacuit archipelago. December and January see the most visitors, while February through April offer warmer water and fewer crowds. The southwest monsoon arrives in June, bringing afternoon squalls and choppy crossings, though rates drop and the lagoons turn a deeper jade. Locals say the light is softest just after the rains ease in late October, when the hills are still green and the karsts emerge from morning mist.
