Home Exchange in Siargao

No verified homes listed in Siargao yet — the first hosts get priority placement.

The roosters start before dawn, but it's the first rumble of motorbike engines heading toward Cloud 9 that really wakes Siargao. This teardrop island in the eastern Philippines trades the resort polish of Boracay for something looser: sandy feet at the sari-sari store, grilled tuna straight off the boat in General Luna, afternoons that stretch between surf checks and naps in a hammock. Beyond the famous break, there are mangrove tunnels, lagoons that glow turquoise against coconut groves, and barangays where the rhythm is still tidal, not tourist. The homes below open the door to that rhythm.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

When's the best time to visit Siargao?

September through November brings the most consistent swells for surfers, but calmer seas from March to June suit island-hopping and lagoon swims better. The wet season peaks July and August, though brief downpours often give way to clear skies by afternoon. Siargao stays warm year-round, but the northeast monsoon from November onward can make boat trips choppy. Locals say the island feels most itself just after a rain, when the dust settles and the palms drip green.
