No listings matched yet in Slovenia be the first host

Slovenia rewards the curious with layers most visitors never peel back. Beyond Bled's postcard-perfect island church, you'll find the subterranean cathedrals of Škocjan Caves, the Italianate charm of Piran's sun-bleached piazzas, and the emerald Soča River cutting through alpine valleys made for rafting and riverside picnics. Ljubljana's pedestrian old town hums with open-air markets and Art Nouveau facades, while the Karst Plateau hides family-run wine cellars and prosciutto smokeries tucked into hillside villages. Staying in a local home gives you the freedom to chase festivals, hike the Julian Alps at dawn, and return to a real kitchen stocked with Slovenian honey and hearth bread.

Why Slovenia works for things to do

Homes, not hotel rooms

Live in a real Slovenia home — kitchen, balcony, neighbourhood rhythm — instead of a generic hotel room.

Fair by design

1 credit = 1 night. Every home is worth the same. No bidding, no haggling, no price surges.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

What are some lesser-known activities in Slovenia beyond the main tourist sites?

Venture into the Logar Valley for shepherd trails and waterfall walks without the crowds, or explore the salt pans of Sečovlje where traditional harvesting methods date back centuries. The Logarska Dolina offers pristine alpine meadows perfect for cycling, while the wine roads of Brda and Vipava Valley invite slow afternoons tasting orange wines in family cellars. In autumn, join truffle hunting expeditions in Istrian oak forests, or soak in the thermal springs of Dolenjske Toplice surrounded by forested hills.
