Things to Do Home Exchange in Turkey

Homes near the attractions, sights, and activities that matter.

No listings matched yet in Turkey be the first host

Turkey unfolds as an endless itinerary of discovery, where ancient amphitheatres meet bustling spice bazaars and turquoise coastlines give way to lunar valleys. Adventure seekers find hot air balloon flights over Cappadocia's fairy chimneys, while history lovers walk Roman roads in Ephesus and Byzantine corridors in Istanbul. Every region offers distinct experiences: hike the Lycian Way along Mediterranean cliffs, sail a gulet through island-dotted bays, or lose yourself in the labyrinthine streets of Mardin's old town. Home exchange lets you settle into neighbourhoods where daily rhythms—morning simit vendors, evening tea gardens, weekend ferry crossings—become part of your own Turkish story, not just postcards to collect.

Why Turkey works for things to do

Homes, not hotel rooms

Live in a real Turkey home — kitchen, balcony, neighbourhood rhythm — instead of a generic hotel room.

Fair by design

1 credit = 1 night. Every home is worth the same. No bidding, no haggling, no price surges.

Curated for things to do

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

How can I experience Turkey beyond the major tourist sites?

Stay in residential neighbourhoods where local life unfolds naturally. In Istanbul, explore Asian-side districts like Kadıköy for authentic markets and meyhanes. Along the coast, smaller towns like Kaş or Ayvalık offer diving, sea kayaking, and family-run lokanta restaurants without the crowds. Inland, places like Safranbolu preserve Ottoman wooden architecture and artisan workshops. Use dolmuş minibuses like locals do, visit weekly pazars for regional produce, and time your stay around neighbourhood festivals or seasonal harvests. The richest experiences happen when you're living somewhere, not just passing through.
