No listings matched yet in Colombia be the first host

Colombia has become a magnet for remote workers who want reliable infrastructure without sacrificing adventure. Medellín's Poblado and Laureles neighbourhoods hum with coworking spaces, fiber internet, and a timezone that overlaps neatly with US hours. Bogotá offers a more cosmopolitan vibe—think rooftop cafés in Chapinero, late-night work sessions fueled by tinto, and a thriving tech community. Coastal Cartagena and mountain towns like Manizales give you weekend escapes without losing connectivity. The cost of living stretches your budget further, and Colombia's digital nomad visa makes longer stays straightforward.

Why Colombia works for for digital nomads

Homes, not hotel rooms

Live in a real Colombia home — kitchen, balcony, neighbourhood rhythm — instead of a generic hotel room.

Fair by design

1 credit = 1 night. Every home is worth the same. No bidding, no haggling, no price surges.

Curated for for digital nomads

We prioritise wifi, workspace · apartment, houses — the kind of homes that actually fit the travel style.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

Which Colombian cities have the best internet and coworking culture for digital nomads?

Medellín leads with fiber internet widely available in Poblado, Laureles, and Envigado, plus dozens of coworking spaces and regular nomad meetups. Bogotá's Chapinero and Usaquén districts offer excellent connectivity and a more international crowd. Cartagena's Getsemaní has improved drastically, though you'll want to confirm speeds with hosts. Smaller hubs like Manizales and Pereira are emerging, with solid infrastructure and lower costs, but fewer coworking options. Always check backup power—outages are rare in main zones but worth confirming.
