For Digital Nomads Home Exchange in Ireland

Reliable WiFi, proper desks, and walkable neighbourhoods.

No listings matched yet in Ireland be the first host

Ireland's blend of literary cafe culture and surprisingly robust tech infrastructure makes it a natural fit for location-independent workers. Cities like Dublin, Cork, and Galway offer thriving coworking scenes alongside neighbourhoods where fibre broadband reaches centuries-old terraced houses. The time zone splits the difference between American and European work hours, and the pub-as-office tradition means you're never far from a warm corner with decent WiFi and better conversation. Beyond the cities, coastal towns and rural villages increasingly cater to remote workers seeking quieter rhythms without sacrificing connectivity.

Why Ireland works for for digital nomads

Homes, not hotel rooms

Live in a real Ireland home — kitchen, balcony, neighbourhood rhythm — instead of a generic hotel room.

Fair by design

1 credit = 1 night. Every home is worth the same. No bidding, no haggling, no price surges.

Curated for for digital nomads

We prioritise wifi, workspace · apartment, houses — the kind of homes that actually fit the travel style.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

How reliable is internet connectivity outside Ireland's major cities?

Ireland's National Broadband Plan has dramatically improved rural connectivity in recent years, with fibre reaching many smaller towns and villages. Coastal spots like Dingle, Westport, and Kinsale now attract remote workers specifically because of upgraded infrastructure. That said, always confirm speeds before committing to a stay in truly remote areas — some older properties in the countryside still rely on slower connections. Mobile coverage through providers like Three and Vodafone is generally strong, making hotspots a solid backup. Many digital nomads find the trade-off of slightly slower speeds worth the dramatic scenery and lower cost of living outside Dublin.
