Travelling with children to the Philippines means trading rushed itineraries for island mornings where the biggest decision is which beach to explore first. Filipino culture revolves around family — expect warm welcomes in provincial towns, child-friendly portions of adobo and pancit at every carinderia, and public spaces where kids running around is the norm, not the nuisance. From the calm, shallow waters of Palawan to the rice terraces of Banaue that older children find endlessly fascinating, the archipelago offers both adventure and ease. Staying in a local home gives your family a base with kitchens for familiar breakfasts, neighbourhoods where tricycle drivers know the best playgrounds, and the kind of space that makes multi-generational trips actually enjoyable.

Curated for for families
We prioritise homes sleeping 4+ people · wifi, kitchen, washer · house, villa, apartments — the kind of homes that actually fit the travel style.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
Which parts of the Philippines are most practical for families with young children?
Metro Manila's Makati and Bonifacio Global City offer pediatric clinics, international groceries, and indoor play centres when tropical heat becomes too much. Cebu City combines urban convenience with nearby island day trips. For a slower pace, Dumaguete and Tagaytay provide cooler climates, walkable town centres, and easy access to nature without the overwhelm of mega-resorts. Coastal areas like Puerto Princesa and Boracay's Station 2 have calm swimming zones and family-run restaurants that happily adjust spice levels. Filipinos adore children, so expect helpful strangers and high chairs that magically appear.
