The Philippines offers families a rare blend of gentle adventure and easy comfort. Kids thrive on island-hopping mornings, snorkelling in shallow coral gardens, and meeting the world's smallest primates in Bohol's sanctuaries. Many neighbourhoods in Metro Manila and provincial cities feature gated communities with playgrounds, while beach towns like Puerto Princesa and Dumaguete move at a child-friendly pace. Filipino hospitality means markets brim with tropical fruit, rice meals come mild and familiar, and locals genuinely delight in children. Settling into a residential home here means access to neighbourhood sari-sari stores, weekend fiestas, and the kind of warmth that turns a holiday into a story your family retells for years.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
Which parts of the Philippines are easiest for families with young children?
Metro Manila's Makati and Bonifacio Global City offer parks, malls with play areas, and reliable infrastructure. For beach stays, Cebu's Mactan Island and Bohol's Panglao balance resort amenities with local life. Puerto Princesa in Palawan is wonderfully walkable, with calm beaches and the underground river nearby. Dumaguete on Negros Island moves slowly, has a university-town vibe, and serves as a gentle base for dolphin-watching and waterfall hikes. Most provincial cities have public markets where kids can try halo-halo and fresh mangoes, and Filipinos are exceptionally patient with little ones.
