South Korea offers families a rare blend of ultra-modern convenience and deep cultural warmth. Cities are exceptionally safe, with spotless public transport that even toddlers can navigate, while neighbourhoods hum with parks, playgrounds, and family-friendly eateries where banchan spreads delight picky eaters. Beyond Seoul's palaces and Busan's beaches, you'll find hot spring towns, folk villages, and hiking trails gentle enough for small legs. Korean families prioritise community spaces—think riverside bike paths, indoor play cafes, and markets buzzing with snacks—so your children will naturally fold into the rhythm of local life.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
Which areas in South Korea are most family-friendly for a home exchange stay?
Look for neighbourhoods near subway lines in Seoul—places like Seongdong or Mapo offer parks, libraries, and easy access to museums. Busan's Haeundae district combines beach life with family infrastructure, while Jeju Island gives you nature trails, lava tubes, and farms where kids can pick tangerines. Smaller cities like Jeonju offer slower rhythms, hanok villages, and street food markets that feel like open-air classrooms. Proximity to a convenience store and a playground matters more than tourist landmarks—Korean residential areas are designed for everyday family life.
