Sweden unfolds as a playground where childhood wonder meets Scandinavian practicality. From Stockholm's sprawling Djurgården island — home to open-air museums and fairy-tale parks — to Gothenburg's canal-side playgrounds and Malmö's sandy beaches, families find a rhythm that balances adventure with ease. Swedish towns are built for prams and curious toddlers: pedestrian zones, spotless public restrooms, and a café culture that welcomes children without fuss. Summer brings endless daylight for lakeside picnics and forest berry-picking, while winter transforms the landscape into a snowy storybook. The Swedish concept of *allemansrätten* grants everyone the right to roam freely in nature, turning every forest path into your family's backyard.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
Which Swedish neighbourhoods and towns are best suited for families with young children?
Look for residential areas near green spaces and water in cities like Stockholm's Södermalm or Kungsholmen, where parks blend into daily life. Smaller towns along the west coast — such as those near Gothenburg — offer beach access and tight-knit communities. Prioritize neighbourhoods with nearby *förskolor* (preschools) and *lekplatser* (playgrounds), which signal family-friendly infrastructure. Public transport is stroller-accessible nationwide, and supermarkets stock familiar baby essentials. Swedes embrace outdoor naps even in winter, so don't be surprised by prams parked outside cafés — it's a cultural norm that reflects the trust and safety woven into everyday life.
