For Families Home Exchange in Switzerland

Spacious homes, full kitchens, and kid-friendly neighbourhoods.

No listings matched yet in Switzerland be the first host

Raising kids in Switzerland for a few weeks means waking to cowbells instead of car horns, and afternoons spent around alpine lakes so clean you can drink from them. Swiss cities blend tram-friendly streets with playgrounds tucked into medieval squares, while villages offer farm visits where children learn to make cheese and meet the animals. Train journeys double as entertainment—kids press their noses to windows as the landscape shifts from vineyard terraces to glacier valleys. The country's legendary punctuality and safety culture mean parents exhale a little, knowing that even a wrong turn leads somewhere beautiful and manageable.

Why Switzerland works for for families

Homes, not hotel rooms

Live in a real Switzerland home — kitchen, balcony, neighbourhood rhythm — instead of a generic hotel room.

Fair by design

1 credit = 1 night. Every home is worth the same. No bidding, no haggling, no price surges.

Curated for for families

We prioritise homes sleeping 4+ people · wifi, kitchen, washer · house, villa, apartments — the kind of homes that actually fit the travel style.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

Which Swiss regions are most practical for families with young children?

The Lake Geneva area and Lucerne region offer gentle terrain, short travel distances, and child-friendly infrastructure. Cities like Lausanne and Lucerne have compact old towns where strollers navigate easily, plus lakeside promenades with playgrounds every few hundred metres. The Bernese Oberland valleys—Lauterbrunnen, Grindelwald—provide dramatic scenery without requiring strenuous hikes; cable cars do the climbing. Swiss trains welcome families with dedicated play carriages and family zones, and most restaurants offer simple, familiar foods like rösti and mild cheeses that even cautious eaters enjoy.
