Raising kids in motion means chasing places where wonder doesn't require a guidebook. Thailand delivers that in spades: morning markets where mango sticky rice becomes breakfast theatre, temple grounds where golden spires spark questions about history, and beaches shallow enough for toddlers to splash while older siblings snorkel. The country's warmth extends beyond climate—locals dote on children, restaurants keep high chairs and plain rice at the ready, and cities like Chiang Mai blend urban ease with mountain air. Settling into a family home here means school-run rhythms replaced by tuk-tuk rides, bedtime stories under ceiling fans, and a pace that bends to curious minds rather than fighting them.

Curated for for families
We prioritise homes sleeping 4+ people · wifi, kitchen, washer · house, villa, apartments — the kind of homes that actually fit the travel style.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
Which parts of Thailand are easiest to navigate with young children?
Chiang Mai's Old City offers walkable lanes, abundant playgrounds, and a critical mass of expat families who've road-tested every noodle shop for kid-friendly menus. Bangkok's Thonglor and Ekkamai districts cluster international schools, air-conditioned malls with play zones, and parks where locals gather at dusk. On the islands, Phuket's Kata and Karon beaches slope gently and lack strong currents, while Koh Samui's Bophut area balances quiet shores with nearby clinics. Avoid remote islands unless you're comfortable with limited medical access and ferry-dependent supply chains.
