Home Exchange in San Andrés
No verified homes listed in San Andrés yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
San Andrés floats in the Caribbean like a secret kept from the mainland, closer to Nicaragua than to Bogotá. The sea here runs through seven shades of blue, from pale turquoise shallows to deep sapphire channels that locals call the Sea of Seven Colors. Reggae spills from wooden beach shacks painted in primary colours, and the air smells of coconut rice and fried fish. This is Colombia's Afro-Caribbean heart—a place where Creole English mixes with Spanish, where golf carts outnumber cars, and where the rhythm slows to island time the moment you step off the plane.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
What's the best time to visit San Andrés?
December through April brings the driest skies and calmest seas, perfect for snorkelling around the coral reefs and hopping over to Johnny Cay. The island stays warm year-round, but May through November sees occasional tropical showers and rougher waters. Hurricane season peaks September and October, though direct hits are rare. Locals say the shoulder months—late April or early December—offer sunshine without the cruise ship crowds, and you'll find the beaches quieter and the guesthouses more relaxed.
