Home Exchange in Tayrona

No verified homes listed in Tayrona yet — the first hosts get priority placement.

Tayrona isn't a city—it's a sprawl of jungle-draped coastline where the Sierra Nevada mountains tumble straight into the Caribbean. Howler monkeys wake you before dawn, and the trails between coves are sandy, root-tangled, and utterly removed from the rest of the world. You'll eat fresh pargo with patacones under palm thatch, swim in water so clear you can see your toes on the bottom, and fall asleep to waves that sound like they're inside your room. This is Colombia at its most elemental: no roads, no rush, just forest, ocean, and the rhythm of tides.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

What's the best way to experience Tayrona as a traveller?

Come prepared to unplug—most of the park has no cell service or electricity after dark. The dry season from December to March offers the calmest seas and clearest trails, though it's also the busiest. If you don't mind occasional rain, September and October bring fewer crowds and lusher jungle. Stay near Calabazo or Arrecifes to be close to the best swimming beaches, and plan to hike; the park's magic is in the walk between coves, not the arrival.
