Home Exchange in Lima
No verified homes listed in Lima yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
Lima wakes to the sound of waves muffled by fog, the Pacific pressing against cliffs while vendors slice papaya on corners that smell of ají and fried fish. This is a city that lives in its kitchens and courtyards—where ceviche is eaten at noon, never later, and Sunday afternoons slow to the rhythm of family tables in Barranco or Miraflores. Hotels keep you at arm's length from that cadence; a local home puts you inside it, where the coffee is strong, the doors open to jasmine, and the mercado is three blocks away. The homes below open the door to that rhythm.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
When's the best time to visit Lima?
December through April brings Lima's summer—blue skies, warm beaches in Barranco, and terrace weather. May through November is winter, draped in the garúa, a coastal mist that softens the city and keeps it cool, rarely cold. Summer suits beach days and rooftop evenings; winter suits long walks through San Isidro's parks and unhurried museum mornings. Either way, the food is extraordinary year-round, and the city never truly empties.
