Home Exchange in Boston
No verified homes listed in Boston yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
Boston smells like salt air and old brick, even blocks from the harbor. The city runs on a double clock: the academic calendar that floods Allston with September energy, and the older rhythm of North End espresso bars that have pulled the same shots since your grandparents visited. This is a walking city disguised as a major metro—fifteen minutes on foot connects Revolutionary War cemeteries to dim sum in Chinatown, brownstone stoops in the South End to the glass towers of the Seaport. The homes below open the door to that layered routine.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
When does Boston feel most like itself?
September through October, when students return and the foliage frames the Charles River, or late spring when the Public Garden tulips bloom and outdoor patios reopen. Winter has its own charm—gas lamps in Beacon Hill during snowfall, empty Museum of Fine Arts galleries—but locals will warn you about the wind off the water. Summer brings harbor islands and rooftop season, though the city empties slightly as universities pause. Each season reshapes which neighbourhoods feel most alive.
