Home Exchange in Los Angeles
No verified homes listed in Los Angeles yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
Los Angeles smells like jasmine after rain and sounds like the hiss of lawn sprinklers at dawn. It's a city that rewards the long stay—the kind where you learn which taco truck parks on your corner Tuesday nights, where the good hiking trails empty out by nine, where the light turns gold enough to stop traffic. Hotels keep you in West Hollywood or Santa Monica; a local address drops you into Silver Lake's coffee routines, the produce abundance of the farmers' markets, the rhythm of a place that's less about landmarks and more about microclimates and morning drives. The homes below open the door to that sprawl.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
Which neighbourhoods in Los Angeles feel most local?
Silver Lake and Echo Park hum with cafés and hillside walks. Los Feliz skews bookish, with the Greek Theatre and Griffith Park trails nearby. Venice still holds its bohemian edge despite the tech influx. Highland Park and Eagle Rock offer eastside grit and excellent Thai food. Santa Monica and the Westside feel polished, beach-close, expensive. Downtown has transformed—loft living, Grand Central Market, actual density. Each pocket operates on its own clock; locals rarely cross town in a single day.
