Home Exchange in Seattle

No verified homes listed in Seattle yet — the first hosts get priority placement.

Seattle mornings arrive with the hiss of espresso machines and the low call of ferries crossing Puget Sound. This is a city built on water and coffee, where Pike Place Market vendors toss salmon at dawn and Capitol Hill bookshops stay open late under string lights. The rhythm here splits between the polished tech corridors of South Lake Union and the worn wooden docks of Ballard, between misty forest trails twenty minutes from downtown and dim bars where grunge never quite left. The homes below open the door to that rhythm—keys to neighborhoods where the real Seattle happens between the rain.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

When's the best time to visit Seattle?

July through September brings the famous dry stretch—blue skies, warm evenings, and every rooftop deck in use. But locals will tell you about 'false spring' in late February, when the first cherry blossoms open and the city shakes off its grey. Winter is genuinely wet, though rarely freezing, and the trade-off is empty trails and cozy coffee shop corners. Shoulder seasons—May and October—split the difference: mild weather, fewer crowds, and the landscape either blooming or turning gold.
