Things to Do Home Exchange in Peru

Homes near the attractions, sights, and activities that matter.

No listings matched yet in Peru be the first host

Peru rewards the restless with layers that unfold slowly. You might trace Inca stonework at dawn in the Sacred Valley, then watch condors glide over Colca Canyon by afternoon. The country doesn't package its wonders neatly—ancient citadels share the map with coastal surf breaks, cloud forests, and sprawling markets where every stall promises a new flavour. Staying in local neighbourhoods means you're steps from the trailhead, the plaza, or the family-run cevichería that doesn't make it into guidebooks. Peru asks you to move at its rhythm, and home exchange gives you the time and the doorstep to do exactly that.

Why Peru works for things to do

Homes, not hotel rooms

Live in a real Peru home — kitchen, balcony, neighbourhood rhythm — instead of a generic hotel room.

Fair by design

1 credit = 1 night. Every home is worth the same. No bidding, no haggling, no price surges.

Curated for things to do

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

Beyond Machu Picchu, what experiences define Peru for active travellers?

The Colca Canyon offers some of the continent's deepest gorges and Andean condor sightings without the crowds. Lake Titicaca's floating reed islands and high-altitude trails reveal living traditions. On the coast, Huacachina's dunes are made for sandboarding, while northern beaches near Máncora draw surfers year-round. The Amazon basin—accessible from Iquitos or Puerto Maldonado—immerses you in river journeys and wildlife encounters. Each region operates on its own schedule, so plan for slow travel and early starts.
