Singapore compresses an astonishing range of experiences into a compact island city-state. You can start your morning exploring the colonial grandeur of the Civic District, lunch in a hawker centre where twenty cuisines collide, then spend the afternoon wandering the tropical canopy walkways of MacRitchie Reservoir before ending your day amid the futuristic light gardens of Marina Bay. The efficient MRT connects heritage shophouses in Joo Chiat, the temples of Little India, and the rainforest trails of Bukit Timah within minutes. For travellers who thrive on variety and density of experience, Singapore delivers more per square kilometre than almost anywhere on earth.

Why Singapore works for things to do

Homes, not hotel rooms

Live in a real Singapore home — kitchen, balcony, neighbourhood rhythm — instead of a generic hotel room.

Fair by design

1 credit = 1 night. Every home is worth the same. No bidding, no haggling, no price surges.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

How do I balance Singapore's famous attractions with authentic local experiences?

Start early at neighbourhood hawker centres like Tiong Bahru or Old Airport Road before tourist crowds arrive. Alternate iconic stops like Gardens by the Bay with walks through residential estates in Tiong Bahru or Katong, where you'll find indie bookshops, traditional kaya toast shops, and Peranakan architecture. Visit temples and mosques during non-peak hours—Sri Mariamman, Sultan Mosque, and Thian Hock Keng reveal Singapore's multicultural soul. The Southern Ridges trail and Pulau Ubin island offer nature escapes locals actually use. Mixing these rhythms gives you both postcard moments and genuine neighbourhood texture.
