Chile's cities unfold like chapters in a geography textbook come to life. Santiago sits cradled by the Andes, where you can ski in the morning and sip wine in Providencia by evening. Valparaíso tumbles down Pacific hillsides in a riot of street art and funiculars, its UNESCO-listed quarters revealing new murals around every corner. Venture south to Puerto Montt for lakeside promenades and volcano views, or north to La Serena's colonial squares and nearby stargazing valleys. Each urban center offers distinct architecture, microclimates, and rhythms—from the café culture of Barrio Lastarria to the port-town grit of Antofagasta. Chilean cities reward the curious walker with pisco sours at golden hour and stories written in crumbling facades.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
Which Chilean cities offer the best mix of urban culture and natural access?
Santiago delivers world-class museums and dining with the Andes as your backdrop—cable cars whisk you to Cerro San Cristóbal for panoramic views. Valparaíso pairs bohemian art scenes with oceanfront walks along its labyrinthine hills. Pucón, though smaller, functions as an adventure base town with volcano hikes and hot springs minutes from its central plaza. In the south, Puerto Varas charms with German-influenced architecture and direct access to lake districts and temperate rainforests. Most Chilean cities keep nature within arm's reach, whether it's coastal cliffs, mountain trails, or desert oases.
