No listings matched yet in Argentina — be the first host
Argentina unfolds at a pace that suits those who've earned the luxury of slow discovery. Retirees find themselves drawn to Buenos Aires' café culture, where afternoons dissolve over cortados and newspapers in Palermo or San Telmo. Beyond the capital, Mendoza's wine country offers gentle vineyard walks and long lunches under the Andes, while Bariloche's alpine air and lake views provide a European sensibility without the jet lag. The peso's favourable exchange makes extended stays comfortable, and Argentina's healthcare system ranks among South America's finest. Tango lessons, literary cafés, and markets brimming with empanadas create rhythms that reward curiosity over hurry.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
What makes Argentina particularly welcoming for retirees travelling independently?
Argentina's infrastructure caters beautifully to mature travellers. Cities feature walkable historic quarters with frequent bench seating and plazas for rest. Public healthcare is accessible, and many doctors trained abroad speak English. The culture respects age — you'll find locals offering seats on buses and patient assistance when needed. Dining happens late but leisurely, portions are generous, and vegetable-forward options balance the famous beef. The country's European heritage means familiar architectural cues and a café society that encourages lingering. Transportation between regions is comfortable, with long-distance buses offering reclining seats and onboard service.
