Home Exchange in Philadelphia
No verified homes listed in Philadelphia yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
Philadelphia smells like pretzels and old brick in summer, sounds like church bells in Old City on Sunday mornings. This is a walking city where corner delis know your order and row houses open straight onto marble stoops—the kind of place where staying in a neighbourhood means joining the rhythm of farmers' markets in Rittenhouse, pickup basketball in Fairmount, Vietnamese coffee shops in South Philly. Hotels put you near the Liberty Bell; a local kitchen puts you near the bakery that's been running since 1918. The homes below open the door to that rhythm.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
Which Philadelphia neighbourhoods feel most local?
Fishtown and Northern Liberties hum with breweries and vintage shops in former industrial blocks. Rittenhouse Square draws weekend strollers to its cafés and green space. South Philadelphia remains the heartland of Italian markets and Vietnamese pho counters, while Fairmount—near the art museum—offers tree-lined streets and front-stoop culture. Each neighbourhood has its own corner store, its own pace. Spring and fall are gentlest for walking them all.
